This policy is written in plain English. We want you to actually understand it, not just click past it.

What this tool does — and what it doesn't do with your data

Sera is a brain dump and prioritisation tool. You type your thoughts, worries and to-do items into a text box, and the tool helps you organise and prioritise them.

The most important thing to know: the content of your brain dump — everything you type into the tool — is never stored by us. It is sent directly to the Anthropic API to generate your sorted output, displayed back to you, and then it is gone. We do not save it, log it, read it, or retain it in any form.

What data we do collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to run the service.

If you use the free tier (no account):

• A session count stored in your browser's local storage to track your one free session. This never leaves your device.
• Anonymised usage events via Plausible Analytics (see below). No personal data is involved.

If you create an account and subscribe:

• Your email address — to send you a login link and account information
• Your subscription status — active or inactive, and when it started
• A Stripe customer ID — a reference number linking your account to your Stripe payment record. We never see or store your card details.
• A session count — the number of times you have used the tool (a number only, never the content)
• Your consent records — a timestamp recording when you agreed to these terms and this Privacy Policy
• Your login timestamps — when you last accessed the tool

We do not collect the content of your brain dumps, your name, any special category data, your location, or any device tracking data beyond what Plausible collects.

Our lawful basis for processing

• Contractual necessity — processing your email and subscription data is necessary to provide the service you have signed up for
• Legitimate interests — collecting anonymised usage statistics to understand how the tool is used and improve it
• Legal obligation — retaining consent records to comply with data protection law

Third parties who process your data

Anthropic (API) — Your brain dump text is sent to the Anthropic API to generate your sorted output. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its models by default. Content is processed in transit and not retained. See anthropic.com/privacy.

Stripe (payments) — Stripe processes your payment. We never see your card details. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant. See stripe.com/gb/privacy.

Supabase (database) — Your account data is stored in a secure Supabase database hosted in the EU. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified. See supabase.com/privacy.

Plausible Analytics — Privacy-first analytics. No cookies, no personal data, cannot identify you. Fully GDPR compliant. See plausible.io/privacy.

Netlify (hosting) — The tool is hosted on Netlify. Server logs may include IP addresses but we do not access or retain these. See netlify.com/privacy.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. Ever.

How long we keep your data

• Account data: retained while your account is active and for 12 months after cancellation
• Consent records: retained for 6 years (legal requirement)
• Payment records: retained by Stripe per their legal obligations
• Brain dump content: never retained

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct inaccuracies, request erasure, restrict processing, receive a portable copy, and object to processing based on legitimate interests.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

Security

• All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
• Account data is stored in a secure, access-controlled database
• Brain dump content never touches our servers
• API keys and credentials are stored securely as environment variables, never in code

A note on the nature of this tool

You may choose to include sensitive personal information in your brain dump. We want to be clear: we never see this content. It passes from your screen to the Anthropic API and back. We have built it this way deliberately.

Cookies

Sera does not use tracking cookies. Plausible Analytics is cookieless by design. We use browser local storage only to track your free session count — this data never leaves your device.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will notify subscribers by email before they take effect.
